The rules for using Chit Chat and being part of our campus community

These Terms govern your access to and use of the Chit Chat mobile application and its related features and services.

By downloading, installing, accessing, creating an account on, or using Chit Chat, you confirm that:

• You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
• You meet the minimum age requirement applicable to your use of the service.
• You agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use Chit Chat.

You are responsible for the information you provide when creating and using your account.

You agree to:

• Provide accurate and truthful information where requested.
• Use your real identity where Chit Chat requires identity information.
• Keep your account and login credentials secure.
• Not share your account with another person.
• Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed or used without authorization.

We may take reasonable steps to verify, restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that appear to contain false information, impersonate another person, or violate these Terms.

Chit Chat has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour.

You must not use Chit Chat to create, post, send, share, promote, or distribute content or conduct that:

• Harasses, threatens, bullies, intimidates, or targets another person.
• Encourages violence or physical harm.
• Contains hate speech or discriminatory attacks.
• Contains spam, scams, phishing, or misleading information.
• Disrupts, damages, or interferes with the operation of Chit Chat.

You must not use Chit Chat to harm, threaten, exploit, deceive, or intentionally cause distress to another person.

Chit Chat allows users to create, upload, post, send, and share content, including text, images, videos, stories, messages, profiles, and other materials.

You are solely responsible for the User Content you create, upload, post, send, or share.

You represent and agree that:

• You have the necessary rights and permissions to share your User Content.
• Your User Content does not violate these Terms or applicable law.
• Your User Content does not infringe the rights of another person or organization.

Chit Chat uses reasonable safety and moderation measures to help maintain a safe and respectful environment. These may include automated systems, content filtering, user reports, manual review, and other enforcement measures.

We may review, restrict, limit, remove, or disable access to content or accounts that we reasonably believe violate these Terms, may be illegal or harmful, or may create a safety risk.

Possible actions may include removing content, limiting visibility, restricting features, issuing warnings, suspending an account, or permanently terminating an account.

Users may report content or behaviour that they believe violates these Terms or creates a safety concern using the reporting tools available within Chit Chat.

Reports may relate to harassment, threats, bullying, hate speech, sexual or exploitative content, impersonation, spam, illegal activity, or other harmful behaviour.

We aim to review reports and take appropriate action as soon as reasonably practicable. Where a valid report identifies content or behaviour that violates these Terms or creates a safety concern, we aim to take appropriate action within 24 hours of receiving the report where reasonably practicable.

Chit Chat provides safety controls that may allow users to block or restrict interactions with users or content, depending on the feature and context in which the interaction occurs.

Users must not attempt to evade safety controls, blocking features, account restrictions, or other enforcement measures by creating or using another account.

Certain Chit Chat features may allow users to participate in anonymous or pseudonymous conversations. Anonymous or pseudonymous interaction does not mean that a user is exempt from these Terms or from moderation and safety measures.

You must not use Anonymous Chat to harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate another person, engage in sexual harassment or sexually explicit conduct, share illegal or harmful content, impersonate another person, or otherwise violate these Terms.

Anonymous Chat is not a guarantee of complete anonymity. Chit Chat may associate activity with an account for purposes including safety, moderation, investigation of reports, enforcement of these Terms, prevention of abuse, and compliance with applicable law.

You retain ownership of the User Content that you create and upload, subject to the rights you grant under these Terms.

By posting or uploading User Content to Chit Chat, you grant Chit Chat a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, distribute, and technically process that User Content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, improve, and provide the Chit Chat services and related features.

This license ends when your User Content is deleted from our systems, except where retention is reasonably necessary for legal, safety, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, backup, or other legitimate operational purposes.

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it may be shared, how it is protected and retained, your choices and rights, and how you may request deletion of your information where applicable.

We may process information relating to your use of Chit Chat for purposes including providing the service, maintaining security, preventing abuse, investigating reports, enforcing these Terms, and complying with applicable law, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Chit Chat and its related features, including its name, logo, branding, design, software, interface, functionality, and other original materials, are owned by Chit Chat or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except as expressly permitted by law or with our written permission, you may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute Chit Chat or its software, reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code, use Chit Chat branding or trademarks without permission, or create a substantially similar service using our protected materials.

Chit Chat may use or integrate with third-party services, platforms, tools, or technologies. Your use of third-party services may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies provided by those third parties.

Chit Chat is not responsible for the availability, content, or operation of third-party services except to the extent required by applicable law.

We aim to provide a reliable service, but Chit Chat may occasionally be unavailable, interrupted, delayed, modified, or limited due to maintenance, technical issues, security incidents, network or infrastructure problems, updates, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Chit Chat is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by applicable law. We do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to Chit Chat if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive or unsafe conduct, attempt to evade a suspension or safety restriction, create a risk to other users or the service, or are required to do so by law or a valid legal process.

You may stop using Chit Chat at any time. Termination or suspension may not remove information that we are required or reasonably permitted to retain for legal, safety, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or other legitimate purposes.

We may update or modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we may provide notice through the app or other reasonable means.

Your continued use of Chit Chat after updated Terms become effective means that you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using Chit Chat.
